Originally  from Sagamore, Massachusetts, Mrs. Hadzima came to Illinois when she followed her father's roots to Southern Illinois University. There, she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education. Although her teaching certificate qualifies her to teach K-9, she says that she loves teaching first grade. She has been teaching first grade at St. Peter's since August 1985. Prior to St. Peter's, she was a director and a teacher at Tender Loving Care Preschool in Downers Grove. While raising her two children, she did substitute teaching for District 33 Schools in West Chicago.

"The thrill for me of teaching first grade is seeing the growth achieved by the children in the course of the year. It is truly rewarding. I couldn't picture myself doing anything else. I feel blessed to be part of the children's lives."
