Friday Folder May 16, 2008
Dear Parents, As we enter these last few weeks of school, the teachers and students are very busy with many creative lessons. For example, Mrs. Fink (P.E. Teacher), was teaching our 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students how to create and cook healthy meals. On Wednesday, the upstairs kitchen had delicious aromas of garlic, onions, and other spices permeating throughout the school. Also on Wednesday, the children attended a special ribbon ceremony honoring our 2008 graduates. At the ceremony the 8th graders explained to the student body the importance of the graduation ribbon. The 7th grade students were given “a light” as a symbol of their roles as the school’s new leaders. On Wednesday and Thursday, 4th and 5th grade students spent several hours in the annual “Battle of the Books.” This activity requires the students in those grades to read several books, and then answer questions that the Itasca librarians have formulated. The students work in teams in order to answer the challenging questions. Our winners this year are: Kelsey Powell, Riley Skalski, Nina Beltrano, Austin McKenna, Atika Hemani, and Armaan Hemani. Great job, students!! The Parish Finance Board will be tracking parish donations all summer long. Please remember to bring your envelopes to Church on Sundays so you continue to be considered “in-parish” status. If you make a monthly donation, please put an empty envelope in on the other Sundays. In today’s Friday Folder you will find a packet of forms for the next school year. Please fill out these forms and return them to school by May 28th. Sincerely, Mary E. Billmeyer Principal
Reminder: Please attend “The State of the Parish” meeting Wednesday, May 21st, in Church starting at 6:30 PM.
