Home & School Meeting Notes
Monday, October 22, 2007
1. Meeting called to order at 7:40 p.m. Mrs. Billmeyer started with a prayer and
welcome.
2. September’s minutes approved by Melanie Weirich and Jill Meyer.
3. Attendance was as follows: Mary Ellyn Billmeyer, Jill Meyer, Eileen Skalski,
Erin Carey, Melanie Weirich, Gina Alvarez, Diane Blackburn, Hilda Koskiewicz.
A. Principal’s Report (Mrs. Billmeyer):
· Mrs. Billmeyer reported that a 7th grade student form South Korea will be
starting school soon.
· Money and permission slips are coming in for the Rockettes field trip.
· St. Peter has changed from Terra Nova tests to Iowa Tests. It’s a different
format and kids are having a difficult time due to the tests being taken earlier
in the year. The test takes please in the fall vs. spring.
· Monday, November 5 in place of the regular meeting, school board will be
attending a conference in Joliet. All are welcome to attend.
· Diocese Summit which is a large conference is taking place in April. There
will be different speakers and vendors to update all parishioners and schools on
different programs.
· 7th grade parents doing a few fundraisers for the 8th grade dinner.
· Three dead trees are being removed from the wooded area and a flyer will be
going out to all families for helpt to clean up the area.
B. President’s Report (Diane Blackburn):
· A one person show from Historical Perspective will be performing for the all
school Halloween program on Wednesday, October 31 in the school hall for grades
K-8.
· Ladies Night Out – Performance of “The Christmas Wish” will be at the Steeple
Church and then drinks and appetizers at Casale’s afterwards. Date to be
determined.
· Marketing will be handled by School Board with cooperation of Home & School to
subsidize expenses.
· November’s fundraiser will be for families to dine at Fuddrucker’s on
designated dates.
C. Vice-President’s Report (Melanie Weirich):
· No updates on the committee sign up sheets.
· Send out a flyer in the Friday folder sometime in December to get people to
start putting some thought put into the Board positions.
D. Treasurer’s Report (Gina Alvarez):
· $13,800 unallocated funds.
· Deposited $3,000 for Clothing Sale.
· Wrapping paper fundraiser brought in $4,129.
E. Corresponding Secretary’s Report (Marla Sgarbossa–absent):
· Mrs. Hadzima sent a thank you note for the sympathy card and mass.
F. Recording Secretary’s Report (Hilda Koskiewicz)
· September minutes were done earlier and they can be viewed on the school
website and on the school board.
G. Committee Event Reports
· No updated yet on Entertainment Books.
· Red Ribbon Week – Nice decorations adorned the school. Red Bracelets were
passed out to all of the children. Virginia Ciaccio donated $500 towards all of
the items. Home & School will reimburse up to $300.00 toward Red Ribbon week.
H. Room Moms
· November 15, Ladies Night is a 7th grade fundraiser to raise money for the 8th
grade dance.

I. School Board Update (Mrs. Billmeyer)
· Annual Auction Dinner – Gina Alvarez
1. Silent auction - 165 items this year vs. 190 last year.
2. 1 live auction with 16 items vs. 2 live auctions with 12 items each.
3. 50 tickets sold for TV raffle as of now. TV bought through donations and it’s
already been paid for.
4. Raffle tickets down a little from last year.
5. Attendance is at 200 people.
6. A form has been devised to pre-register yourself if you’re paying for your
items with a credit card and it will be identified through your paddle number.
J. Old Business
· Internet Safety Program – Itasca Bank & Trust Co., is working with Workplace
Solutions to conduct the presentation and both parties are looking for a mutual
date that fits both schedules.
· Erin Carey – Enrollment in Joliet Diocese is down all across the board.
· School Board Member Orientation – procedures and guidelines to be
re-installed. Question and answer immediately will not take place, however take
the questions and discuss as a group and then respond at a later date.
